San Felipe Road
(Nyffenegger, 2005)

Children are screaming in the backseat
Mama’s in front of the car
Papa is (sweating) behind the wheel
The car doesn’t run anymore
The potholes are too deep
The mud is way to thick
On the San Felipe Road
On the way to Hillbank Station

The coati lies dead on the street
Another one runs off into the bush
The vultures circle in the sky
They’re waiting on their lunch
Everybody wants a piece of meat
The margay is looking for a kill
On the San Felipe Road
On the way to Hillbank Station

Arrived in time for dinner
Everybody was starring at us
They’ve never seen Swiss people
They’ve never ever seen children ‘round here
They’ve never seen a motorhome
They’re curious about my jeans
On the San Felipe Road
On the way to Hillbank Station

I’m sitting at this table
It’s a beautiful full moon night
Silence has fallen over the jungle
The singing birds are sleeping
Only the nighthawks sit on the road
The tiger’s running through the forest
On the San Felipe Road
On the way to Hillbank Station (continue)

The children are sleeping in their bed
Mama is reading a book
The bottle is almost empty
My energy has been drained
Can’t keep my eyes open
Dreamin’ of a four wheel drive car
It’s the San Felipe Road
On the way to Hillbank Station
